Say Hello to Taigun and Virtus Only for Kerala

Volkswagen has unveiled limited-edition versions of its Taigun midsize SUV and Virtus midsize sedan. The Taigun’s price range is ₹14.08 lakh to ₹15.63 lakh, while the Virtus’ price range is ₹13.57 lakh to ₹14.87 lakh. In honour of the Onam festival and the launching of six new dealerships in Kerala, these limited-edition Onam Edition versions have been introduced. Exclusive external and interior upgrades are available on both versions.

The Onam Editions will only be sold in Kerala and will each be limited to 100 pieces. Both versions have an all-black exterior and interior, with black accents added to chrome parts like the grille. In addition, they have extra equipment including puddle lamps, a dual-tone horn, front parking sensors, and a TSI emblem on the front fender.

Volkswagen has confirmed that the Taigun Onam Edition model shares the same safety package and features as the higher-spec GT Line variant. Highlights include a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, an 8-inch digital driver display, ventilated front seats, automated climate control, a motorised sunroof, and black 17-inch “Cassino” alloy wheels. The interior and exterior are completely black. With the exception of the sunroof, the Virtus Onam, which is based on the Highline variation, has almost all of the same features as the Taigun Onam.

The Onam Editions are priced the same as the versions on which they are based, although having unique characteristics. These models only come with a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 115 horsepower. It comes with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

The Taigun

Inside the cabin

When you enter the Volkswagen Taigun, you are welcomed by a high-end, expertly designed interior that is both fashionable and practical. The interface has a simple, horizontal layout, soft-touch materials, and no clutter. The focal point is a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with seamless smartphone connectivity that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Volkswagen’s MyConnect app.

The Taigun’s interior is roomy and cosy, with well-padded seats covered in high-quality materials. Long trips are made comfortable for passengers by the spacious back seats, which offer enough of head and legroom. The SUV also has a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls. Rear AC vents ensure passenger comfort in the back seats, and the climate control system works well.

The Taigun has features like push-button start, wireless charging pad, and keyless entry for convenience. In addition, the SUV has a sizable 385-liter boot that can be expanded by folding down the back seats, making it ideal for family vacations and weekend excursions.

Taigun’s powertrain

The Volkswagen Taigun has two different engine options under the hood. The first is a 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine with 178Nm of torque and 115 horsepower. Both driving purists and convenience-seekers can be satisfied with this engine’s 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Volkswagen provides a 1.5-liter TSI EVO turbo-petrol engine with 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque for customers who want more power. A 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) gearbox, which is renowned for its rapid shifts and smooth operation, is connected to this engine. Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), which deactivates two cylinders under light load to increase fuel efficiency, is another characteristic of the 1.5-liter engine.

Safety of utmost paramount

Volkswagen prioritises safety, and the Taigun is no different. It has an extensive array of safety features that guarantee the security of its occupants. All Taigun models come equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC) and six airbags (dual front, side and curtain).

Rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, ISOFIX child seat attachments, and hill-hold control are further safety features. A rear wiper with a defogger, front parking sensors, and a multi-collision braking system—which automatically applies the brakes to stop subsequent collisions—are additional features of higher models.

The Virtus

Under the hood

There are two engine options available for the Volkswagen Virtus, and each is built to provide a good balance between power and efficiency. A 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine with 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque is the base powerplant. To accommodate a variety of driving tastes, this engine is offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

A 1.5-liter TSI EVO turbo-petrol engine is also an option for the Virtus, for those who demand even more power. 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque are produced by this powerful engine, which is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) gearbox. Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), which increases fuel efficiency by turning off two cylinders when full power isn’t required, is also incorporated into the 1.5-liter engine.

When it comes to offering a dynamic driving experience, the Volkswagen Virtus delivers. The 1.0-liter TSI engine provides a lively and quick drive that is perfect for interstate cruising and city commuting. Because of its turbocharged engine, which provides enough of power across the rpm range, acceleration and overtaking are effortless.

The 1.5-liter TSI EVO engine’s powerful performance and rapid acceleration take driving to a whole new level. The sedan’s athletic nature is further enhanced by the DSG transmission, which is renowned for its quick and flawless gear shifts. The Virtus is a pleasure to drive, whether negotiating city streets or winding routes, thanks to its accurate steering, well-tuned suspension, and balanced handling.

A safe zone

Volkswagen places a high priority on safety, and the Virtus is no different. The sedan’s occupants are safeguarded by an extensive array of safety features. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) are among the standard safety features.

In addition, the Virtus has a rearview camera, hill-hold control, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Additional safety features available on higher trim levels include front parking sensors and a multi-collision braking system, which improves overall safety by automatically deploying the brakes to prevent subsequent collisions in the event of a collision.
